Mohammad Yasin is‌ ‌the Labour ‌MP‌ ‌for Bedford‌,‌ ‌having‌ ‌first‌ ‌been‌ ‌elected‌ ‌to‌ ‌Parliament‌ ‌in 2017‌, being reelected in 2019 with a majority of just 145.
Bedford is currently the third most marginal constituency in the UK.  It contains the town of Bedford and the smaller town of Kempston in the centre of Bedfordshire. The constituency has a sizeable Asian community. Held by the Conservatives between 2010 and 2017, this seat has bucked the national trend and moved leftwards in recent years. By majority number, this is the third most marginal seat at Westminster.
Born‌ ‌in 1971 in Pakistan, Mohammad Yasin ‌moved to the UK in his early twenties. He worked‌ in a factory and as a taxi driver, before‌ ‌being‌ ‌elected‌ ‌to Parliament.‌ ‌
He previously sat on Bedford Council between 2006 and 2019.
He was one of a number of Muslim MPs who was sent an Islamophobic letter and suspicious package in 2018.
Mohammad supported Sir Keir Starmer in the 2020 Labour Party leadership election.
He is married with four children.
