Geoffrey Clifton-Brown was first elected as a Conservative MP in 1992, and was reelected for the Cotswolds in 2019 with a majority of 20,214.
The Cotwsolds constituency covers the entire right hand side of Gloucestershire and includes the towns of Cirencester, Fairford, Stow on the Wold, and Tetbury.  Famous for its yellow Cotswold stone, this is an affluent and rural area, which is said to include the highest proportion of listed buildings in Britain. Prince Charles’ estate at Highgrove is found here. The area has been safe Conservative territory ever since the Second World War.
Clifton-Brown served as Shadow International Development Secretary between 2007 and 2010. He was knighted for Political and Public Service in 2018.
Born in 1953, Clifton-Brown was educated at Eton College and the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester, where he graduated as an Associate of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. Prior to entering Parliament, he was a Investment Surveyor.
According to the Register of Members Interests, he is a partner in the East Beckham Partnership that is engaged in arable farming in Norfolk.
Clifton Brown is the Treasurer of the 1922 Committee of Conservative backbenchers.
Sir Geoffrey Clifton-Brown is Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on North Korea; and Shooting and Conservation. He is Deputy Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on China.
Clifton-Brown is a Freeman of the City of London who is said to be related to two previous Speakers of the House of Commons.
He has a son and daughter.
