All houses on the market now require a home information pack

Govt ‘lost nerve’ on Hips

Govt ‘lost nerve’ on Hips

MPs have accused the government of delaying the implementation of home information packs (Hips) on political grounds.

A report from the Commons’ communities and local government select committee says general conditions in the UK housing market were not prioritised above political considerations.

“The long and tortuous process of introducing Hips signals a failure of delivery on the Department for Communities and Local Government’s part,” committee chairman Phyllis Starkey said.

“It is clear the reasons for this lie in poor preparation and then a retreat by the department’s ministerial team.”
