Charles faces grilling over Diana death
Britain’s most senior police officer said he would interview Prince Charles over the death of Diana, Princess of Wales, if necessary.
Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir John Stevens will ask the Prince whether he plotted to kill his estranged wife.
Royal Coroner Michael Burgess has asked Sir John to interview the Prince
Mr Burgess opened and adjourned the inquests into the deaths Diana and boyfriend Dodi Fayed on January 6. They will not reopen until early 2005.
The pair died in a car accident in Paris on August 31, 1997.
Mr Burgess’ request comes after the publication of a letter in which Diana said she feared Charles wanted her dead.
Sir John told the BBC’s Hardtalk: “By the time this inquiry has finished we will know the truth.”
Sir John told BBC interviewer, Jon Sopel, he would have no hesitation in questioning Prince Charles.
