Father charged with baby killing
The father of a 10-month-old baby stabbed to death in Carlisle has been charged with his murder.
Cumbria Police said Shahajan Mondol Kabir, 39, had been charged with killing 10-month-old Hassan Dominic Martin.
Mr Kabir is due to appear before Carlisle Magistrates on Thursday.
He has also been charged with causing grievous bodily harm to the baby’s mother Lorna Martin, and grandmother Pauline Martin.
The death of Hassan after he was stabbed in a bakery on Scotch Street has shocked residents of the city. Floral tributes were left outside the shop following the incident, which took place at around 11:55 BST on Tuesday.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: “Last night [Wednesday] police charged Shahajan Kabir with the murder of Hassan Dominic Martin and the grievous bodily harm of Lorna and Pauline Martin.”
