Allegra Stratton resigns from COP role

The government spokesperson for COP26 Allegra Stratton has resigned.

This comes following a leaked video which showed Stratton laughing and joking about a party at 10 Downing Street on December 18.

In a statement, Stratton said: “To all of you who lost loved ones, endured intolerable loneliness and struggled with your business – I am sorry and this afternoon I have offered my resignation to Prime Minister.”

Prime minister Boris Johnson has maintained that no party took place, and that if there was one no rules were broken.
