BASC teaches Staffordshire teenagers about airgun safety

Pupils from a Staffordshire secondary school have been learning about airgun safety and the law thanks to BASC's education programme.

The students from the Fairoaks Enterprise College in Rugeley watched a presentation on airguns by Dave Mills from the Airgun Training and Education Organisation and then listened to a brief talk about shooting and conservation.

BASC has been invited back to the school next year to give a further presentation on how shooting is linked with conservation and to talk about the food chain.

Director of shooting standards, Peter Marshall, said: "BASC has been visiting schools for a couple of years now covering areas such as gun crime, conservation and pest control. The success of this programme means that we are always on the lookout for enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteers who would like to help BASC."

If you would like to visit your local school please contact Susan Bull in the shooting standards department on 01244 573065.
