Skills
Economic uncertainty means that businesses are increasingly less likely to invest in training and staff. Skills are also not relevant to what businesses need, due to the changing nature of work, the pandemic, and Brexit. LCCI are strongly campaigning for a skills regime which allows businesses and education providers to support businesses of all sizes to access the skilled workers they need. By attracting the best students to apprenticeships and incentivising businesses to invest in training, London can continue to be a centre of skilled work.Â
LCCI are also campaigning for the UK’s Recruitment of skilled talent from overseas to be easier and to reflect business needs rather than old political tropes about immigration. London must be globally-thinking and seeking to attract skilled workers from across the world to continue to grow, flourish and benefit the rest of the UK.
