Centrepoint: Government should slow down on reforms to avoid homelessness

Seyi Obakin, Centrepoint chief executive calls for the government to slow down and consider effects of welfare changes:

"Plans to introduce a cap are just one part of the big changes being made to welfare support that have already made it much harder for people to meet their housing costs.

"With the number of homeless families already increasing it is vital that the effects of this cap and other changes to housing benefit are monitored very closely.

"I think the government needs to slow down and work through the possible cumulative effects of all the benefit changes to make sure they don't leave people without a home."
