Virgin Trains: Route improvement work at Rugby - Saturdays 31 May, 7, 14, 21 June
Tuesday, 27 May 2008 14:23
As part of Network Rail's continuing project to upgrade Britain's busiest main line to carry more trains, the route at Rugby will be closed from 10:00 on Saturdays 31 May, 7, 14, 21 June for 24 hours.
A very limited service will operate to and from Euston on the Manchester, Liverpool, Preston and Carlisle routes before the line closes at 10:00
From around 08:30 a shuttle service of three Pendolino trains per hour from Euston to Northampton will be phased in connecting with a frequent replacement coach service to Birmingham International.
Services on the Manchester, Liverpool, Preston and Glasgow routes will run as far south as Birmingham International or Coventry before returning north. Passengers will be able to reach Euston by taking the replacement coach service to Northampton and changing into the Pendolino shuttle service.
Passengers holding Open, Savers and Season Tickets can also use other companies trains to get to and from London as follows:
Glasgow/Edinburgh to Kings Cross National Express East Coast
Liverpool/Manchester to St Pancras Int East Midlands Trains
Birmingham Moor St to Marylebone Chiltern Railways
Birmingham New St to Paddington CrossCountry/First Great Western
Direct trains to and from London Euston will resume from start of service on Sundays
The Rugby project continues through the summer and details will be released soon on plans for train services on subsequent weekends.
