The National Centre For Research Methods is this year hosting the ESRC Research Methods Festival its aim is to engage with social scientists across a wide range of disciplines and at all stages of their careers. Aiming to stimulate interest, raise issues and provide a forum for the discussion of the latest developments in research methods. The programme includes evening lectures by international speakers: Kathy Charmaz will speak on ‘Emergent ethics in qualitative research’, Bob Groves will ask the question ‘Do we still need probability sampling in surveys?, and Charles Ragin will take ‘Redesigning social inquiry’ as his theme. The programme also includes ‘What is?’ introductions to different methods which assume no prior knowledge of the subject on the part of the
audience.
The festival is being held at St Catherine's College, Oxford.
