12/06/2008: NCVO: ‘Bridging’ Social Capital Seminar Series

Organised by NCVO / Carnegie UK Inquiry into the Future of Civil Society
This seminar is the first of a series of seminars on ‘bridging’ social capital. It will examine how voluntary and community organisations and other civil society organisations can successfully build bridges between different communities, and explore what lessons can be learnt from existing ‘bridging organisations’.
The speakers will be:
Margaret Harris (Institute for Voluntary Action Research) who will present her research into neighbourhood-based activity intended to build bridges between people and communities traditionally divided by ethnic or religious differences.
Catherine Howarth (London Citizens) who will look at the contribution of community organising to bridge building.
Karl Wilding (NCVO) who will chair and facilitate the session.
