. More than 39,000 WW2 veterans, war widows and carers have been funded to journey to the battlefields where they saw action or where their loved ones fell.
. Big Lottery Fund has channelled millions of pounds into care, support and information for hundreds of hospices and carer-at-home schemes throughout the UK, to support people coping with life-limiting illnesses. This includes the single biggest investment in children's palliative care in the UK - with £48 million going to the children's side of the scheme.

. £850 million for new and improved sporting facilities and equipment through the £750 million Big Lottery Fund New Opportunities for PE and Sport programme and £100 million to create wider opportunities to get involved in sport and physical activity through the Active England programme run jointly with Sport England.
. Big Lottery Fund has committed £12 million to the relief of the effects of the South Asia Tsunami.
. 350 healthy living centres have been funded across the UK.
. Over 66,000 grants worth more than £3 billion to UK charities and voluntary groups.
. 775 neighbourhood nurseries have been awarded grants for building or refurbishment.

. 25,300 hectares of land and 88 buildings have been brought into community ownership in Scotland through the Scottish Land Fund.
. Over £200 million for the building, extension and improvement of more than 2,100 village halls and community buildings.
. International grants programme has distributed over £189 million to more then 700 projects.
. Research grants programme has funded 264 projects totalling £51.1m.
. Strategic grants programme has distributed over £309 million to nearly 1,500 projects.
