Multi-touch chassis displays up to 46-inch showcased at annual launch-pad for gaming innovation

Bracknell, UK, 19 December  2012 - Diversified technology company 3M is presenting its latest multi-touch technology based on 3M Projected Capacitive Technology  to the gaming industry at its annual showcase, ICE Totally Gaming, ExCeL London, 5-7 February 2013. In collaboration with kiosk, amusement and gaming partner Eurocoin (Stand S10-340), 3M’s Touch Systems business will demonstrate a prototype 46-inch Multi-Touch Chassis Display in a gaming table formation, a button deck incorporating a new 16.4-inch extreme wide diagonal multi-touch system, and an 18.5-inch multi-touch system in a bar top application.

The prototype 46-inch gaming table demonstrates the dramatic impact of 3M Projected Capacitive Technology on the gaming industry allied with the demand towards even bigger large format displays (LFDs). Combining 60-finger multi-touch capabilities with an ultra-wide viewing angle, high-definition 1080p LCD display, the metal-housed Multi-Touch Display C4667PW chassis from 3M opens the door to exciting new collaborative and competitive games for players, where multiple users can interact simultaneously on the touch screen. 3M Projected Capacitive Technology is ultra-fast with the capability to track more than 20 simultaneous touch events at a 12 millisecond touch response speed, while rejecting palms on the screen surface. This transcends far beyond the simple two-touch 'gestures' that users are all familiar with on smartphones and tablets.

This Multi-Touch Display C4667PW chassis helps create a more natural interactive experience for users seeking an enlarged touch area or applications for multiple users. The 3M Projected Capacitive Technology sensor's anti-stiction surface further enhances users' experience by enabling their fingers to glide effortlessly across the glass surface while maintaining positive contact with the screen.

3M Projected Capacitive Technology is also used in the new high-performance 16.4-inch Multi-Touch System PCT2000PX from 3M. Highlighted on the stand as a button deck application, this multi-touch system enables revolutionary slot machines to be created with new levels of interaction. For example, it can support lines and credit changes, downloadable games and configuration on the first level, more interactive bonus rounds on the second level of player deck display and, in the third level, full interaction with the main screen for a highly immersive gaming experience.

Shown as a flat front surface (FFS) integration in a bar top video poker application,  the 18.5-inch  Multi-Touch System PCT2000PX from 3M provides an ideal solution for providing interactive gaming along with player access options, such as casino TV applications.

Also featuring on the stand will be the 32-inch Multi-Touch Display C3266PW chassis from 3M, multi-touch displays from 18- to 27-inches, a selection of chassis touch displays featuring MicroTouch Surface Capacitive Touch Technology (SCT) from 3M, and 15-inch, 17-inch and 19-inch Dual-Touch Chassis Displays from 3M along with specialised touch screen components. As well as these standard models, fully customised solutions can be generated with Eurocoin and 3M for any specific applications.
