3M Thanks Automotive Industry Customers with Premier Sports Free-view Weekend

Tuesday, 23 October 2012 1:51 PM

Bracknell, UK, 23 October 2012 – Diversified technology company 3M has announced a second year sponsorship arrangement with Premier Sports in appreciation of auto-industry customers and trade partner patronage for trusted 3M products, including vehicle wrapping films, car care products, injury supports, personal device skins and high-strength bonding tape. As a result of the sponsorship, a selection of live and delayed motorsports, football, Rugby Union and League, NHL, and mixed martial arts (MMA) events will be screened free-view from Friday 26 October to Monday 29th October during a 60 hour free-view period promoting both 3M products and Premier Sports’ content.

Richard Webb, Operations Director at Premier Sports commented, "Following the success of 3M’s sponsorship of Premier Sports’ NASCAR coverage last year, we are thrilled to have renewed our cooperation in 2012. UK Sky viewers are in for a real treat and will not only get a taste of a normal weekend on Premier with lots of live sports action but will also get to see some of the best moments we have broadcast over the past 12 months with the finals of the NHL, NRL and Blue Square all being repeated.”

Premier Sports on Sky channel 428 is the only UK channel showing complete NASCAR Sprint Cup events from start to finish live from the US.  3M TV advertising and sponsorship will run throughout the weekend’s programming with the highlights including live NASCAR racing from Martinsville, Top 14 Rugby from France with Stade Francais v Toulouse, live Blue Square Premier Football from England featuring Mansfield’s trip to Dartford, the first airing of Cage Contenders MMA, the Superclásico from Argentina featuring River Plate v Boca Juniors and a chance to see last season’s NRL, Blue Square and Championship Rugby League finals. On top of all that, HBO’s acclaimed fly on the wall series NHL 24/7 ‘Road to the Winter Classic’ will be broadcast back to back as well as the Winter Classic between the New York Rangers and Philadelphia.

NASCAR is one of the most viewed professional sports in terms of TV ratings in the United States and NASCAR races are broadcast in more than 150 countries worldwide. 3M's involvement extends further than just sponsorship: most NASCAR Sprint Cup cars use Controltac Graphic Film Series 180 from 3M. This is favoured for its light weight, reliable performance, expert finish and speed to apply; core characteristics mirrored by the NASCAR racing team and its award winning pit crew known as the Pitbulls.

3M’s TV advertising will especially support those customers and trade partners involved in vehicle graphics, body refinishing and repair. Featured products include wrapyourcurves.co.uk, 3Mcarcare.co.uk, 3M Futuro Supports, 3M VHB Tape and Wrappz.

wrapyourcurves.co.uk is a key industry resource for vehicle wrapping established to support commercial and consumer vehicle personalisation and branding needs. The professional vehicle wrapping site has been built to ensure 3M can be found quickly and easily and includes clear, precise search tools for finding car and van wrapping support services at a local as well as national level. It also offers upgraded web-marketing tools for members, opportunities for wrappers to showcase their work to customers and an improved user experience inviting customer enquiries.
