The ESRC is the UK's largest organisation for funding research on economic and social issues. We support independent, high quality research which has an impact on business, the public sector and the third sector.

We provide power to a quarter of the UK's population via our electricity distribution networks in London, the South East and the East of England, distributing power to over a quarter of the UK population. We supply gas and electricity to 5.5 million customers and generate about 5GW of energy from our coal and gas power stations, as well as combined heat and power plants and wind farms.

ELEXON is the Balancing and Settlement Code Company (BSCCo) established under the provisions of the Balancing and Settlement Code (BSC). Our role is to administer the wholesale electricity balancing and settlement arrangements for Great Britain. This affects all of Great Britain's electricity users, some 28 million customers, and the energy companies that generate and supply the electricity. The documentation that governs these arrangements is the Balancing and Settlement Code.
